True Blood – Season Two Promo

I am so excited for the second season of True Blood! It airs on June 14 at 9 EST. I’m so going to be watching it and TiVo’ing it. When Robyn comes back to visit, we’re going to have a True Blood marathon and drink red wine or beer. It’ll be fun!

I was supposed to be getting the fist season on DVD from Amazon that I pre-ordered… but they messed up at the warehouse and sent me someone else’s order (a 90210 DVD). So, I had to call them and they are getting it out to me now with 2-day shipping and I should be getting it on Monday – I hope. I haven’t seen all the season one episodes and I have to before the second season starts!

Flashback Friday – Hey Dude

Remember that show on Nickelodeon called “Hey Dude”? It aired from 1989 to 1991. I used to watch it all the time with my cousin Jennifer when we were kids and my Mom was babysitting her during the summer. We watched it so much that I knew all the lines and would say Melody’s and I made her be Brad (she was a girl, not a dude).

Hey Dude was set around the fictional “Bar None Dude Ranch” near Tuscon, Arizona. It was about the lives of the ranch owner Mr. Ernst, his son Buddy and the lives of the summer teenagers who worked at the ranch. My favorite character was Melody – played by Christine Taylor.

As per the wiki page, “The owner was Mr. Ernst, a good-natured but somewhat bumbling dimwit with glasses, a slight build, and a receding hairline. He bought the ranch – in this case, ill-advisedly – seeking escape from his high-pressure job as a New York City accountant. His son, Buddy, was displeased with the change of locale, primarily because he couldn't skateboard on desert sand.

The staff originally consisted of two boys and two girls. The boys were Ted, an enterprising troublemaker, and Danny, an easy-going Hopi Indian. The girls were girl-next-door Melody and rich girl Brad, from Grosse Pointe, Michigan who often wore dressy designer outfits at work, but was a very competent horse-rider. Her love-hate relationship with Ted was a plot thread during the first half of the series.

Ted later left the show for a time and was replaced by Ernst's nephew Jake, an eccentric slacker who likes to play the drums. Not long after, Kyle, a dim but handsome cowboy type, joined the cast. Soon after that, Ted came back, and he and Kyle became romantic rivals for Brad.

The only other featured adult was Lucy, a tough and authoritarian ranch-hand. She is sometimes looked upon as a mother figure with the teens often asking her advice.”

Do you remember this show? Who were your favorite characters? Any favorite or memorable episodes?

Random Update

What has been going on with me lately? Well, I’ve been busy and yet not. I know that cancels each statement there out, but it is true. It seems I’m either really busy lately or just in a “blah” funk.

New Business – My Mom and I have been working hard to get products ready to go up on our website and start selling. We’ve gotten quite a few compliments about them, so we are very positive about the business. Once we have a few more types made (probably a few weeks) I’m going to have a giveaway on here and release the website to all of you. Exciting!

Gardening – I’ve been tending to my little plants growing from seeds. Some are doing much better than others. It still makes me sad to see that the snapdragons and the poppies and a few other planters drowned in the massive amount of rain we had here for a few days. However, my Sweet Williams that I planted last year from seeds are quite amazing.

Paranormal Investigating – I’ve been busy with our group’s website the past few days. I’m working with the leader to make it awesome. I typed up three pages worth of suggestions and ideas, most of which he liked (I think). I’m just glad I didn’t offend him. I really just want to help make it the best it can be and get us out there. Once it is all updated, I’m going to (finally) post about the amazing group I am in. Also – exciting!

Saturday we have a big meeting and then we’re investigating two locations about an hour away from there. I’ve never been to either place, so I’m excited. Hopefully we can capture some good evidence (and then I can put that on the website too).

Dead and Gone – I just got the 9th Sookie Stackhouse book titled “Dead and Gone.” It is in hardcover, which is the first one of the series I have in hardcover. It makes me a little annoyed because with my lovely OCD I just know I’m going to have to buy the other ones in hardcover too one day. I’m about 1/3 through the book, and I love it. I’ll review it on here when I finish (which will probably be soon). Why do I love it so far? Eric! Yes, he is in this one much more than Bill is so far (who-oo!). Gotta love the hot Viking Eric. Mmmm.

Robert Pattinson Shirtless – Yeah, I know. Enough Rob and Twilight and vampires already?!? Sorry, I love all of the above and I just have to post these pics from the New Moon set. Yum! Hey, at least I didn’t post a whole blog post about it like I was going to do… hehe.

Blogging – I just want to say thank you to all my readers and followers for sticking with me. I know some topics I blog about some of you don’t like, but most do (I hope). Also, thanks for sharing with me which topics you do like best in my Blogoversary post. I will try to keep up with the Flashback Fridays and post more about paranormal stuff now that I know you guys like it so much. ::hugs!::

Vampire Diaries

I haven't read the Vampire Diaries books, but the new show on the CW based on the series (I guess) looks like it will be pretty good. What do you guys think?

Staycation

My friend Robyn came to visit me last week, which was awesome. She and I met my senior year of college at UCF. No, not in California people - Orlando! University of Central Florida which doesn’t stand for U Can’t Finish – because we both totally did! Wow. Even just speaking about Florida my language usage changes. Sorry about that. Moving on…

I live in a pretty small town. Think about all those towns people get off of the highway on and think “Oh my God, who lives here?” Well, I live in one of those kinds of towns. Robyn actually loved it, I was rather surprised. She does love the country though, so it probably shouldn’t have surprised me.

We did some shopping at the local Wal-Mart (major fun there, let me tell ya). Next time she comes, I’m going to take her to Birmingham for a better shopping experience. Hopefully we’ll both have more money by then to get something cool.

My Mom and I took her to Nocallulla Falls (major tourist attraction lately for visiting relatives and friends huh?). Here is a self-taken photo by yours truly of us while we were there.

*IMG REMOVED

Robyn also loves Twilight, so we had to watch that one night too. I also got her to watch Memoirs of a Geisha because she had never seen it. People either really love it or are indifferent about it, luckily she really liked it.

On Saturday I brought her with me to the paranormal investigation and she signed up to be a new member. Yes, she doesn’t live here (yet) but she plans on moving here, so that would rock! Also, she can help out with other things until she does move while she is in FL. Plus, we’re closing membership so she had to get in now.

This was the investigation me and another lead were in charge of. The weather was rainy and drizzly and it really dampened our choices on where to go (no pun intended). We had a short investigation and then had a meeting and discussed lots of really positive things that we all want to see happen for the group. Today I’m going over to headquarters and helping with the website. I did make a new desktop wallpaper which may or may not be used with my ghost drawings. Either way though, the website will be kick ass soon and I will reveal what group I am in and you can all go flood the website with love. :)

Happy Blogoversary To Me!

Yesterday was Sheri’s World first Blogoversary. I’m quite proud that I was able to blog for this long. I actually didn’t think I would keep up with it at first.

Since I blog about basically everything, I would like some input from all of you about what topics you enjoy reading the most from me. It will help me decide what to blog about more of in the future. I want to keep you all happy too, so please let me know and it won’t hurt my feelings – I promise!

Also important to note (I think) is that this is my 200th post! Amazing, I know. I would be doing a giveaway with this monumental occasion but the items for my new business are not quite ready and up on the website yet. Soon though, be patient! :)

Grey’s Anatomy + Survivor – Season Finales

I was going to post each of these individually, but then time slipped away from me and I didn’t. So, now here are my thoughts on these show’s season finales. I love them, so I am glad they aren’t over entirely (yet anyways)!

Grey’s Anatomy

Wow. Quite a bit happened on this finale.

Meredith and Derrick got fake married in the residents locker room and wrote their vows on post-its. Something tells me something will go wrong with this next season. They need to just get their butts down to City Hall already! It is a large step from the cliffhanger of last season and the house of candles.

Alex was great helping Izzy with her short-term memory loss. That is until he yelled at her because he thought she’d forget and then she didn’t. Then he was hugging her and she coded.

George went off and decided to join the army. However, he didn’t quite make it. At the bus stop he pushed a girl out of the way and got hit and dragged by a bus. He was the “John Doe” that kept almost dying and now that girl’s hero. His face was all tore up and gone and Meredith figured out it was him when he traced “007” on her hand. That was his nickname.

Izzy and George were both dying at the same time and met each other on the “otherside” at the hospital. Izzy was in her prom dress (from the prom night at the hospital – same night Denny died) and George had a buzzcut and was in his army uniform. Will they die? Will they survive for next season? I guess that depends on the contracts.

Bailey ended up turning down the pediatrics fellowship because her husband would leave her if she accepted it. Then she admitted that she wouldn’t stay with him but she was going to now be a single mother and just couldn’t handle it. So, she is going to stay with general surgery – plus they have that cool new robot now!

Christina and the trauma doctor Owen are taking things a bit better and seem to be together now. He finally went home to see his mom who is just miles away from the hospital. About time don’t ya think?

McSteamy asked Little Grey to move in with him, but she turned him down. They were a bit off after that. Their story seemed a bit just thrown together compared to everyone else’s.

Callie and the blonde pediatrics girl seem to be doing okay now. Their storyline also seemed to be just thrown together.

What did you guys think of the Grey’s Anatomy season finale for this season? I thought it was good. Not great, but good. I like Izzy and George and I know all of that drama with what they said about the show and all makes them iffy if they would return to the show, but still. It was a bit much for them to both maybe die on the same episode! How much can fans take without going on life support themselves?

Survivor

My favorite person on this season was JT. He is cute and from Alabama plus he was a really strong competitor. It didn’t look too good for him when the merge came though. He was aligned with Stephen and Taj and they were the only ones left from their old tribe. Usually that would mean he was the first out because people take out the strongest threats first at this point (if they don’t win immunity). However, thanks to Coach trusting him and wanting a “Warrior Alliance” that didn’t happen. Instead, JT and Stephen orchestrated all of the other tribe to be voted out. It was pure genius.

However, when it came down to the final four they had Erinn too. I had a sick feeling they would turn on Taj and keep Erinn. They did. It made me think a bit less of both JT and Stephen. If I had been Taj, I would have been really hurt. It isn’t like she would have won the final challenge anyways, so why do that to someone you were with since the beginning?

The final two were JT (he won final immunity) and Stephen. When the jury asked them questions they did turn on one another a bit (perhaps just for show though). I still thought JT would win though because people liked him more and he won more things. It usually comes down to that.

Back in NYC at the “live show” before Jeff read the votes, I was shocked at how JT looked now. I think he is hotter all scruffy and dirty than he does when he was all cleaned up. How weird is that? I wonder how many other people thought that too.

JT won – unanimously! Who-oo! Finally a win on a show this season that I wanted to win.

My Mom thinks I should apply to be on the show but I really don’t think I could last on there. I’d be too bitchy. Plus the threat of snakes, spiders, sharks, wild animals and other bugs… seriously? For $1 million maybe though…

Robert Pattinson Tattoo

Okay, so while I was catching up (or trying to) on Blog posts, I saw this at SVC:

Yes, that is a tattoo someone (female I am guessing) got that has Robert Pattinson’s signature on them. Crazy much?

I admit it - I am as obsessed with Rob as the next Twilight-Edward obsessed fangirl. However, I would never get his signature tattooed on me! Try to explain that one to your potential fiancé or husband or boyfriend-to-be. Unless it was Robert Pattinson I was already married to (I wish!), I would never get that tattooed on me. What was this person thinking?!?

I don’t have any tattoos, so maybe I just don’t get it. If I were to get one I’d probably get a hot fairy. ClichĂ© as it is, I love fairies. But in all honesty, I’ll probably never get a tattoo. I hate pain.

If you were to get a tattoo related to Twilight though, what would you get? SVC asked this on their post too, and I’m curious what you guys would get. I’d probably get one with a quote and put it around my ankle or something. I dunno.

Saturday Morning

I am a bit lost of where to begin with this post. This week has been hectic and yet not. As I said in a previous post this week, my friend Robyn is coming from FL to visit. Well, she is still coming just not this week – she’ll be here next week. She got into a car accident on the way here. She is okay but her car is in the shop and now she is flying here. I’m excited! We’re going to have fun and I’m really excited to take her on a paranormal investigation the weekend she is here.

True Blood: Season 1Yesterday I ordered True Blood: Season One and Dead and Gone (book 9 of the Sookie Stackhouse books). Since I was already on Amazon, I figured I’d look for some books about the business my Mom and I started. I wrote down the names of some while we were at Books-a-Million a week or so ago. Well, I found some of them and a few others MUCH cheaper on Amazon.com than in Books-a-Million. I got a few straight from Amazon and 3 from other people used (but in new condition). $6 for a $25-30 book? Hell yeah! I didn’t have such luck with True Blood or Dead and Gone though because well True Blood comes out in a few days (I had to pre-order it) and Dead and Gone just came out a few days ago. Plus, books I really like I have to buy new. I love the new book smell. Yes, I am aware of how dorky I am and I love it.

It has been raining here a lot. So much so that some of the seeds I planted that had been growing quite well were drowned. I had been moving them undercover, but last Saturday when I was at an investigation my parents failed to move them in and some sadly drowned. It was quite disappointing. Nothing is blooming yet, but when it does I will post lots of pictures! For now though, here are the tomato plants coming up and the petunias.

My Blogoversary is in 8 days! I can’t believe it. In a little over a week I will have been blogging for one whole year. If you check on my 2008 entries though, they aren’t as good as now and I didn’t blog nearly as often.

My Mom asked me about this whole Twitter thing. I don’t Twitter. I don’t want to. If I was a celebrity I probably would, but I’m not. I just don’t see the point in it. Do people really care what I am doing at some point in time? I am going to have to go with “no” on that one. Plus, I don’t really like stalkers unless they are stalking my blog of course.

I am going to amuse myself though and post a fake Tweet on here: Right now I am… listening to my iPod and drinking coffee with vanilla coffee creamer. Yum.

Today there is a meeting and then a paranormal investigation. The leaders are going to be watching us to see how we do without them. Exciting and kinda scary. I think I’ll do fine though, I hope. I also realized I really need to start drawing again because my sketch for the new logo thing sucks. Plus my printer/scanner doesn’t want to scan unless I have a color cartridge in there (which I threw out because it was empty). Lovely. Maybe if I take a picture of the sketch and then photoshop it, it will work. Best option right now anyways.

How are your weekends going? Any fun and exciting plans?

Flashback Friday – Who’s The Boss

Who’s The Boss first aired September 1984 on ABC. I was only one year old when this aired, but I remember and love the show from reruns I saw as a kid and some new seasons as I got older too.

Tony Danza played Tony Micelli, the widower who wanted to make a better life for his daughter Samantha “Sam” played by Alyssa Milano. So, he became TV’s first manny in the upscale Fairfield, CT home of Angela Bower (Judith Light) and her son Jonathan (Danny Pintauro). Angela’s mother, Mona Robinson (Katherine Helmond) was a feisty lady for her age in TV back then and I always found her to be pretty funny. However, my favorite character was Sam because she was the girl on the show even if she was a tomboy to start with.

As stated on the WTB Wiki page, “The title of the show referred to the clear role reversal of the two lead actors, where a woman was the breadwinner, while a man stayed at home and took care of the house. Moreover, whereas Angela employed Tony, it was Tony who seemed to run the house, thus the question of who the "boss" really was. It challenged media stereotypes of Italian-Americans as wholly ignorant of life outside of urban working-class neighborhoods.

The contrast between easy-going, spontaneous Tony and driven, self-controlled Angela resulted in their mutual attraction. While there was playful banter and many hints of attraction for much of the run, Tony and Angela did not at first consummate the relationship, and dated others. They did, however, become best friends along the way relying on each other frequently for support. Angela had a steady man in Geoffrey Wells (Robin Thomas), while Tony had many girlfriends who came and went, including Kathleen Sawyer (Kate Vernon) in seasons six and seven. Finally at the start of the eighth season, Tony and Angela admitted their love for each other, and had a whirlwind romance until the end of the series which did not close with the widely expected marriage but on a more ambiguous note. This was due primarily to concerns by the network that a marriage, representing a definitive ending, could hurt syndication. Tony Danza, too, vehemently opposed the marriage, saying it would contradict the original purpose of the show.

In addition, Tony provided a much-needed male role model for geeky Jonathan, while Angela (and even Mona) gave Samantha the woman's guidance she had been missing.”

Did you watch Who’s The Boss? Ever catch it on reruns or hulu.com? Who was your favorite character?

Late Weekend Update

I’m sorry this post is a little late. Things have been really hectic over here and in my downtime I just didn’t have time to write up a Blog post.

The weekend was pretty good. On Saturday, I went on a paranormal investigation at a 144 year old mill with the group. It was a really cool place and I hope we can come back sometime!

I would prefer it was in the winter though because the threat of bees on the third floor meant I was freaking out over bees more than ghosts. Ghosts really don’t scare me – bees do. Funny huh? I’m allergic to bees and wasps so I really didn’t want to get stung out there.

Also while we were there a huge thunderstorm came when my group was in the open pavilion with a tin roof. It was screened in, but rain was getting in (not much though thankfully) but it seemed like for a minute there the roof was going to blow off – and then it started hailing. Yeah, scary. Again, something that scares me on an investigation that is not a ghost – tornadoes (or threats of). We weren’t under a watch or warning, but still they could pop up!

I saw a few shadow people and felt some things, but I can’t really get into that (I think). I really need to ask the leaders what I can discuss on here. Oh, I’m also going to be helping the group’s website out and drawing (or trying to) a new logo for it. It is going to be of two casper-like ghosts. When I get this all done I will share with all of you the group I am in – exciting huh?

Sunday was Mother’s Day and we went over to my Aunt’s house and had a big “dinner” there. I say “dinner” because it is more like “lunch” but in Alabama they call lunch dinner and dinner supper. It was nice, and yet awkward. I didn’t grow up around them and there isn’t anyone my age to talk to. It is just weird for me.

My friend Robyn is coming to visit this week (probably tomorrow). So, I’m excited about that. I haven’t seen her since my senior year of college in 2005. So, I need to do a bit of cleaning the guest room and around the house. I think we will have a good time even if I do live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. On Saturday, she is going to be a guest investigator for the investigation that day, so that will definitely be fun!

I’ll try to write again more frequently. I have a lot of things I want to Blog about including a new kid-friendly free online game I’m reviewing.

How were all of your weekends? I’m going to try to catch up on past Blogs tonight if I have time, if not tomorrow morning hopefully.

Random Update

I figured today would be a good day to do one of my random updates about my life. It has been rainy and pretty dreary weather (that I actually like) for the past few days with no signs of it letting up much. It makes me think of Forks, WA and Twilight and the song “I’m Only Happy When It Rains” by Garbage. That song should totally have been in the movie.

The flowers I planted from seeds are coming up pretty well. The sunflowers are doing really well and getting over 8 inches tall. They need to be planted into the ground ASAP or at least a bigger pot until it stops raining so much. I’ll post pictures of how they look once I get some into bigger pots and/or the ground.

Last weekend there wasn’t any paranormal investigating because it was cancelled and this week it might be too be cause of weather. I also haven’t gotten the evidence back yet from the investigation at my house. I’m eagerly waiting to see this! The leaders did come back though a few days after the investigation to cleanse the house. It seems to be working, pretty much.

I’m really excited to be getting the supplies for my new business. I hope that it goes well and works out. Actually, I know it will. Positive energy! I’m also really excited to see what Bobby G comes up with for the logo. Thank you again for helping me out! Also, a big thank you to everyone who commented with all the encouraging words too! It means a lot to me. ::hugs::

Tonight is Grey’s Anatomy’s 100th episode! So naturally, I am quite excited about this. It is supposed to be Derek and Meredith’s wedding. However, I think it is going to end up being Izzy and Karev because Izzy is dying of cancer and she planned the whole dream wedding. Don’t get me wrong, I want Mer and Der to get married, I just am not quite convinced it will be on this episode. What do you think?

Also, did you know there is a Grey’s Anatomy video game out? I don’t think I’ll be getting it, but who knows? If I do, I’ll review it on here!

If Grey’s Anatomy isn’t your thing, maybe Survivor is? That is on tonight too and it looks like it is going to be very good as well! The “Survivor Auction” is tonight and it looks pretty good. I wonder what they will be bidding lots of money on this time besides food. It looks like JT and Steven are running the game right now, but we all know how quickly things can change in Survivor. I like JT though, and I hope he wins. Who do you want to win?

It is times like these that I am very happy that we have TiVo. Actually, it is a DVR with DirectTv. I just like calling it TiVo because it sounds cooler.

I Hired Myself

Job seeking really is depressing. Especially after looking for so long to find a decent job only to find out that even local retail places aren’t even hiring. I’ve also become very cynical on the whole “Job Fair” and “Temporary Staffing” places. Honestly, how many people actually get jobs from those things?

As you may know, I sell Avon. I’ve sold it for a few years now and enjoy it. I don’t have a huge customer base, but I do have some good customers and occasionally get family and friends to buy from my Avon Website (pssst shameless plug).

However, I need to make more money. I like money. I need money to pay bills and student loans, etc. Okay, I don’t like that part about money (bills are evil). Regardless, I need more of the green stuff that gets hidden in a bank somewhere. Gold would be even better.

The past few days I’ve really been thinking about starting a business. Now is supposed to be a great time to do so, what with the economy being awful and all. However, financial experts seem to think it is a good time to be an entrepreneur. So, that is just what I am doing!

I discussed with my Mom (and now business partner) what we could start a business with. We came up with a name (will be released soon) and products we will be selling and where we can sell them. From there, we bought some supplies and a website domain name. We still need to go to the courthouse (or wherever you go) to get the business license. We’ll probably do that tomorrow.

All in all, it is really exciting and really exhausting. I imagine I will be even more tired when we get all the supplies in the mail, making the products and I have to start making the website (cringe). I haven’t made an actual website for years; hopefully I’m still decent at it.

To get you all excited about it too – I will let you in on the fact that I will be doing a giveaway with some of the products! More info on this to come soon.

Swine Flu – Heidi and Spencer Style

We all know about the whole Swine Flu scare and how it might turn into a “pandemic” (hopefully it won’t). Here is some Swine Flu news to make you laugh – or at least make me laugh.

Newlyweds Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag don’t let the Swine Flu stand in their way of a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Here are some pictures that seriously make me laugh every time I see them (from TMZ and PacificCoastNewsOnline).

Another funny bit from TMZ was when they asked Paris Hilton if she was worried about the Swine Flu and she said “No” because “she doesn’t eat that.” Priceless.

Flashback Friday – TLC

TLC was a female group from the 1990s. I absolutely loved them. They weren’t named after “Tender Love & Care” either. TLC was the first letter from each of their names: "T-Boz", "Left Eye" Lopes, and "Chilli" Thomas.

Their sexy and funky attitude made TLC the biggest selling female R&B group. They inspired other female groups to emerge and many fashion trends.

Their albulm for Crazy Sexy Cool was certified 11x Platinum in U.S. They also won many awards which can be seen here.

Sadly, on April 25, 2002, Lopes died in a car accident but the remaining members, Thomas and Watkins, had intentions of finishing the album they were working on despite their loss.

One of their best known songs and videos was “Waterfalls” so naturally, I am posting it here for you all to remember and enjoy.

One of my favorite songs was “Creep.” I don’t know why really, I just really liked it.

I can’t end this post without adding “No Scrubs” – the ultimate girl anthem.

Do you remember TLC? Did you like them? Any favorite songs? Videos?
